Citizens Advice Richmond (CAR)'

Description

Citizens Advice Richmond offers information and advice to anyone who lives, works or studies in the borough, on any issue.

Our service is free, confidential and impartial. We aim to empower people to resolve their problems and change their lives for the better. We are a member of the national Citizens Advice service, a network of around 300 local advice centres.

As well as giving advice we aim to prevent the problems that affect people’s lives:

  • Campaigning for change – we collect evidence of the impact on our clients of practices and policies that cause their problems and we campaign to get a fairer deal for everyone
  • Money education – we offer courses, workshops and one-to-one help to empower people to avoid debt and increase confidence about personal finances.

We also offer specialist debt advice across Richmond and Kingston along with specialist legal and financial advice delivered by professionals acting on a pro bono basis. As well as providing information, advice and guidance we use the experience of our service users to influence policy makers and campaign for change to benefit the whole community. We also offer a money education programme to empower people and to increase their confidence around personal finances. Information and advice are offered face-to-face (at drop-in or by appointment) by phone, by email and online. Citizens Advice Richmond is a member of the national Citizens Advice service, a network of around 300 local advice centres.
