Wandsworth Sheltered Housing

Sheltered housing is designed to help residents maintain an independent and active lifestyle in a secure and friendly retirement community with the added security of an alarm service and sheltered housing officer for help and support.

Flats are designed for either one or two people. They are often set in attractive gardens close to shops and local amenities. All flats feature an alarm service and have a sheltered housing officer for support and assistance. Other personal safety features may include smoke alarms, a door entry system and CCTV.

There are a number of reasons to move into sheltered housing, for example, you may wish to move from a larger family home to a smaller property that is easier to maintain but still offers a high level of independence. Sheltered housing offers a chance to live in a community environment with facilities that suit needs, near local amenities but still allows people to retain their own front door, independence and privacy.

Each scheme has a residents' communal lounge available for social and recreational activities. You can arrange activities yourself or in coordination with the sheltered housing officer. Some resident association committees also arrange social activities. Usually a range of social activities are provided on schemes. What is offered is decided in conjunction with residents and often includes activities such as outings, coffee mornings, social gatherings, art and craft classes, bingo, exercise and movement classes.
