Better Homes, Better Health Scheme (advice on keeping warm, save money on energy bills and benefits)

Description

Better Homes, Better Health provides a free package of support to help Hounslow residents improve their homes, keep warm and save money on energy bills.

This service is only available through referral, see below for details of who can refer.

How we can help?

The service aims to promote wellbeing and reduce incidences of ill-health during winter through home visits by trained energy advisors. A single referral to the scheme will provide access to a range of support and advice, including:

  • Energy efficiency measures

  • 1-2-1 advice on energy saving and switching tariffs

  • Help and support with claiming benefits related to energy costs.

  • Assistance with gas, electricity and water debt

  • Connections to other services

  • Residents will also be able to receive a free "Stay Warm Pack"

  • Signposting to other appropriate services.

Who is eligible for this service?

Any vulnerable resident can be referred. The following groups are particularly important:

  • Residents over the age of 70

  • Low income families with children under 5

  • Residents with long-term health conditions including, residents with cardiovascular and respiratory illnesses

Who can make a referral?

If you are a Hounslow Resident and think this service could help you, you should contact the My Independence Service.

Alternatively, anyone who works with vulnerable people may make a referral. This could include Social Workers, G.P.s, Health Workers, support group workers or third sector workers. Please visit the Better Homes page for more information and a referral form.
